The Procession 2005

The project consisted of an interreligious procession, starting from the Casino, along the Vallè de la Pètrusse, and arriving at the ancient church of San Quirino, one of the oldest Celtic cult sites in Luxembourg. This pre-Christian chapel, later dedicated to San Quirino, for a long time patron of Luxembourg (now forgotten) was after the Second World War closed and stripped of its three statues and its furnishings, taken away and protected in the rooms of the National Museum. The aim of the project was to make copies of the statues and, through the procession-party, with the participating citizens, promote the reopening of the church.

Il progetto consiste in una processione interreligiosa, che dal Casino, lungo la Vallè de la Pètrusse, arriva all’antica chiesetta di San Quirino, uno dei luoghi di culto dell’epoca dei Celti fra i più antichi del Lussemburgo. Tale cappella precristiana, poi dedicata a San Quirino, per molto tempo patrono del Lussemburgo (ormai dimenticato) è stata in seguito alla Seconda Guerra Mondiale chiusa e spogliata delle sue tre statue e dei suoi arredi, portati via e protetti nelle sale del Museo Nazionale. Lo scopo del progetto è stato realizzare le copie delle statue e, attraverso la processione-festa con i cittadini partecipanti, promuovere la riapertura della chiesetta.
