Theatre of memory / Teatro della memoria 2010

A project where the “Mystery of the Bulgarian Voices”, chorus of renown and international fame, in traditional costume, sing for the first time the “International” on the auditorium steps where the audience usually sits. The choir is seen from the theater’s proscenium, in an exchange of roles that symbolically refers to the belonging of the hymn to the public and to popular occasions, underlining the loss of centrality of the state power of recent history.
A video, which documents in addition to the general rehearsals, the bus trip from the city of Sofia to Plovdiv, with the final performance of the concert in the Roman theater.

Un progetto in cui il “Mistero delle Voci Bulgare”, coro di fama internazionale, nei costumi tradizionali, canta per la prima volta l’internazionale, sulle gradinate dove solitamente siede il pubblico. Il coro viene visto dal proscenio del teatro, in uno scambio di ruoli che rimanda simbolicamente all’appartenenza dell’inno al pubblico e alle istanze popolari, rimarcando la perdita di centralità del potere statale della storia recente. Un filmato di 30 minuti, documenta oltre alle prove generali, il viaggio in bus dalla città di Sofia a Plovdiv, con l’esecuzione conclusiva del concerto nel teatro romano.
