Human Suitcase 2005
Suitcases in resin fibre, Project for Tirana Biennale3 co-curated by Roberto Pinto
The shapes of these suitcases, are the icons found on toilet doors, a universal human symbol chosen to touch a emigration theme. Through these forms man is immediately recognized without having to resort to the identification of culture and ethnicity. The shape of this object also recalls a musical instrument case, and the role of music in the dynamics of exchange and the circulation of identities.
Le sagome di queste valigie, corrispondono alle icone che si troviamo sulla porta delle toilettes, simbolo universale dell’essere umano scelto per toccare il tema delle migrazioni. Attraverso queste forme si riconosce immediatamente l’uomo senza dover ricorrere all’identificazione di cultura e provenienza etnica. La forma di questo oggetto ricorda inoltre la custodia di uno strumento musicale, e il ruolo della musica nelle dinamiche dello scambio e della circolazione delle identità.
